In 2011 – 2013, I lived in Kamloops adjacent to the Valleyview Nature Center. Julie and I walked and ran and biked (just Julie on the bike) there every single day all year long no matter the weather.
She would often bring visitors to the 1400-hectare area to climb the silt bluffs and stand to gawk out over the valley and the remains of the glacial lake.
I just wanted to run.
Yet, when they stood around I had to work extra hard to be sure they did not become stuck in one place as they stared into the distance. I did like to dash between them.
One of Julie’s friends thought he could fly and tried to catch the updrafts. Goof.
I tried it once and only my ears lifted. It felt weirdly nice.
